The programme highlights the expanding role of urology nurses across the care pathway, with a strong focus on evidence-based practice, shared decision-making, and improving patient outcomes. The meeting also features an Exhibition in the Red Area, and Industry Sessions by companies that specialise in products and activities that support the nurses’ daily practice. Here is a scientific programme preview:

Saturday, 14 March: Diagnostics, decision-making, and innovation

The day begins with a Plenary Session on the ‘Evolution of the nurse: From generalist to specialist’, followed by the AGM. Then a Joint EAUN–BAUN session on ‘Nurse-led diagnosis and diagnostic interventions in prostate cancer’ will start. This session will examine how an expanded role for nurses in diagnostic pathways can streamline better care and improve patient experiences. (8:30-11:15, Room 14)

The Bladder Cancer Special Interest Group (SIG) session will focus on ‘Shared decision-making before radical cystectomy’, highlighting how truly listening to the patient’s voice can enhance patient satisfaction, support informed choices, and strengthen trust during complex treatment decisions. (14:00-15:00, Room 14)

Several nurse specialists will present their research project plans and discuss them on their merits with the audience and an expert jury. (10:45-12:15, Room 17). The winner will receive a prize of 2,500 euros and be honoured in the ‘Awards Session’ that concludes the meeting on Monday afternoon. (14:45-15:00, Room 14)

Other sessions will address the evolving role of urinary biomarkers, offering insight into current developments and their clinical relevance, testicular cancer, robotics and LUTS in men, to name a few.

Sunday, 15 March: Lifestyle, digital health, and sexual well-being

Experts will discuss how lifestyle factors influence urological outcomes, and how nurses can effectively support behaviour change through counselling and digital health solutions. (8:30-9:30, Room 14)

Discussions will take place around the presentation of selected challenging cases in the ‘Difficult Cases Session’ (Time: 15:45-16:45, Room 14).

The Sexual Health SIG will address an often under-discussed topic, ‘How do men on androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) experience sexuality?’. This session will provide valuable insights to help nurses support patients with psychosexual concerns with greater confidence and sensitivity and avoid common pitfalls to improve quality of life. (17:00-18:00, Room 17)

Monday, 16 March: Frailty, antibiotic stewardship, and practical decision-making

A session on ‘Assessing and optimising the frail patient in the urological setting’ will help nurses identify geriatric-specific considerations, assess, and optimise care for frail patients with appreciation for the patient-perspective and recognise key comorbidities to improve safety and outcomes. (8:30-9:30, Room 14)

For nurses in advanced practice, a hands-on training course in flexible cystoscopy is offered on the Monday morning, for which a separate registration is required and limited places are available. (8:30-12:00, Room 13) A thought-provoking session titled ‘To dip or not to dip?’ will feature a practical discussion on the appropriate use of urine dipsticks and how over-reliance on testing may contribute to unnecessary antibiotic use, supporting better antimicrobial stewardship in everyday practice. (13:30- 14:00, Room 17)

Poster and Video Sessions: Taking place on Saturday and Sunday in Room 17, nursing professionals will present their research and advancements in practice-development. Four prizes will be awarded for the best poster presentations at the ‘Awards Session’ on Monday.

EAUN Booth Area: Taking place in the Red Area in front of Room 17, you can attend ‘Expert-guided poster tour’ sessions and take part in a quiz on emergencies. For more information on the programme and the EAUN exhibition, visit the EAUN26 meeting website.
